i'm not good at not leading.

i've co-captained a relay for life team the past two years, and i absolutely loved it!! this year, one of the guys on the team really wanted to be a captain, so my co-captain and i decided that we'd step aside and let him take over the team. we are both really busy people, so it was only natural that we let him be captain this year. except now we're about a month and a week away from the event and we have no money raised yet [besides $20 that i really appreciate!]. but come on, we need to get back in gear so that we can get this show on the road...fundraising is hard, and it takes time. at both of our team meetings that we've had, i've pretty much taken over so that we can keep moving forward, and i really don't mind...the thing that bothers me is that our captain basically begged me to be captain, and i'm still the one in charge. now some of that is my fault because i'm not good at not leading, so as self-appointed co-captain, i want to make sure that our team is doing its job; raising money for the american cancer society.

leadership is my thing. i'm good at management. i'm bad at remembering things. i'm bad at not leading. which is the point i was trying to make.

to his credit, our captain is REALLY good at getting the ball rolling on things...he's talked to restaurants to get fundraisers set up and stuff that i would have never gotten started. but he is also really good at letting the ball drop. i am good at keeping it rolling and communicating with the team. from here on out, i am proud to be working with our captain as opposed to for our captain. leading is my thing. i'm not good at not doing that.

here's how you can help:
1. we take any donations. all the money raised goes to the american cancer society.
2. on may 6, we are having a fundraiser at chili's. ask me for a flyer that you can take in so that 10% of your meal will go towards our team's goal of $1100.
3. we are supposed to be getting an online site that you can donate to directly. i'll let you guys know when that will be up!

our team really appreciates what you can give, and we thank you for your support!!
